The Remastered Beatles Stereo Stereo CD Set
The Beatles Stereo Remastered CD Set was made available on 9/9/9 it instantly became the ultimate standard for The Beatles catalog. These remastered stereo versions sound far superior to the old CDs from the 1980s. When comparing the remastered CDs to the older CDs it’s like the older CDs are under a pile of wet blankets while the new discs sound very clear so that all of the vocals and instrumentation punch through the mix like never before.
The Beatles Stereo Remastered CD Set isn’t the only box set by The Beatles released in September of ‘09 but it has been the biggest seller since it can be appreciated by the biggest set of Beatles fans. The Remastered Beatles Mono Box Set is great too but it appeals mostly to Beatles purists who want to listen to the original mono mixes (because that’s how the albums were “meant to be heard”) than to the average classic rock fan. While I will agree with the “purists” that there are some songs that sound better in mono than in stereo (especially some of the pre Magical Mystery Tour recordings in my opinion) overall I think the stereo CD box set does sound the best.
The fantastic thing about The Beatles Stereo Remastered CD Set is that it allows you to buy The Beatles entire 1962-1970 catalog with just one order and when one considers the high quality of most of their CDs, it makes sense to buy all of The Beatles albums at once rather than purchasing some and going back for the rest later.
Along with the wonderful songs included in this box set there are some awesome visual elements, most obviously the DVD with 13 mini documentaries on it (one for each studio album.) Along with the 50 minute DVD there are also extended liner notes for every CD (there’s some excellent info in there, especially for new fans) and some great previously unpublished photos.
I’m such a huge Beatles lover that I’ve got (or am planning on buying) The Beatles in Stereo Box, The Beatles Mono Box, The Beatles Apple USB Stick, and The Beatles Rock Band Video Game. But if I had to pick just one of these items, it would be the stereo box set because it is the best way to listen to their music and of course, it is the classic songs that is the most important.
