No More School Play Equipment
Although there are many people that argue that things such as garden play equipment and trampolines should not be allowed in the playground as they worried about health and safety I feel that in some instances you are actually denying kids a proper childhood.
So what are the reasons for this?
Well one of the major reasons that schools are just not prepared to throw in a bit of fun for the kids is partly down to being too scared to do it. The terribkle thing is that there are many people that wouldnt mind suing a school for nothing at all. If a child falls over then 9 times out of 10 it is because children fall over all of the time but even when it is the schools fault it is not always them who are in need of suing.
Price has a lot to do with it too and these things are often very expensive for a school to deploy. This is why it can be a lot easier to host a fair or something like that so that a lot of money can be raised so that the school can improve upon many of the things that it already has in the playground. The average school sized wooden, giant play adventure would easily set you back at least £5,000 and the government are just not often prepared to pay for it all.
This does seem to be a very big problem and relying on the public to come up with the cash isnt really a great idea as they are supposed to be paying taxes for this sort of thing!
The best thing to do is to make sure that there is at least something out there in the playground that the kids can play around with or they will get very bored indeed.
