Valentine tips
Saying it with a flower
Get your beloved a dictionary on the meaning of flowers or the meaning of roses, accompanied by a bouquet that she can decipher using the book. To avoid misunderstadings it is important to use the same book everytime you send flowers with hidden messages and the same book as you gave your partner because different books can give different meaning for different flowers.. Assigning meanings to flowers is an ancient tradition but the practise of compiling the meanings and turn them into flower dictionaries didn’t really catch on until the Victorian era. Several different flower dictionaries where published during the victorian era and each of them has slightly different meaning for different frlowers which is the start of the problems with possible misunderstandings that we are suffering from still today. Chocolate godness
Instead of having your Valentine desert at a restaurant like everyone else, bring your beloved home and make some rich and velvety chocolate fondue. Chocolate fondue is a playful desert that should be slowly enjoyed in the privacy of ones chalet.
Ingredients
- 1 lb of a high quality chocolate (choose one you know your partner like)
- ½ cup of cream ( do not use a low fat cream)
- 3 teaspoons of Kirsch fruit brandy
- Strawberries and a few other fruits and berries for dipping. I like to use strawberries, mango, pineapple, papaya, green and blue grapes, kiwi, banana, apples, pears, peach or apricot, big raspberries, sweet oranges, loquat, and kumquat.
You will also need a fondue pot and ordinary toothpicks, special valentine cocktail sticks, or two small fondue skewers.
Instructions
1.) Cut bigger fruit in to suitable bit sized slices.
2.) Place a cocktail stick in each fruit slice and in each berry. If you plan on giving each of you a small fondue skewer instead you can skip this step.
3.) Crush the chocolate into small pieces.
4.) But the cream in the pot and heat it on a low flame.
5.) Slowly add small pieces of chocolate while stirring continuously until all the chocolate is melted.
6.) Stir in the fruit brandy.
7.) Place the fondue pot on a portable heat source.
8.) Feed each other fondue by dipping fruits and berries into the chocolate.
A few extra tips!
Fruit and berries are not the only things suitable for chocolate fondue. Don’t be afraid to use new things. A lot fo people like to dip lady fingers, angel food cake and other similar food items.
For even more variation, add chopped nuts to the chocolate, e.g. almonds, walnuts, macadamias and hazelnuts.
Bed, Bath and beyond
Share a long and relaxing bath with your partner, use a bath bomb or bubble bath. Prepare a collection of your partners favorite calm and arousing music in advance to play while you spend time in the bath. If you want to gain extra points you can end the bath with a long massage. Use oils during the massage, deep smells like musk and sandalwood is suitable for valentine. When planning the day, make sure you both have nice clean bathrobes to put on afterwards for that luxurious hotel-feeling as you cosy up and replenish your energy with some more chocolate and perhaps a glass of sparking wine.
