The Beatles Remasters on Vinyl
Some people think that vinyl is the most ultimate way to listen to an album. There’s some kind of magic to watching the black circle rotate and knowing that the wonderful sound you are listening to is coming from a needle instead of a bunch of ones and zeroes like with CDs.
It’s this “magic feeling” (to quote The Beatles) that has Beatles fiends extremely excited about the rumors of The Beatles remasters (which have sold extremely well on CD) making their way onto vinyl in in March of 2010. Although as of right now no release date has been set, it is believed that Apple Corps. is working on a Vinyl record release of The Beatles remastered stereo albums.
The Beatles records that are currently available were created using the not so great 1987 remasters so these 2010 vinyl LPs should be significantly improved in sound quality like the new discs are when compared to the ‘87 discs.
Like manyo ther Beatles fans I’m definitely planning on buying The Beatles Remastered Vinyl LP Box as soon as it is available (as I’m sure it’ll sell out fast) even though I’ve already purchased all of the 2009 remasters on CD (and on The Beatles USB.)
According to the reports that I’ve read, the remastered Beatles vinyl will be available both individually and in a vinyl box set The current rumored date for release is 3/16/2010 but there is a very good chance that will not end up being the actual date.
While you’re waiting for the vinyl LPs I strongly recommend buying The Beatles Remastered Stereo CD Box Set and The Beatles in Mono Box Set. They both sound wonderful. I personally end up listening to stereo box set more often (as I just like hearing music in stereo more than music in mono, in general) but the mono versions are interesting to hear as well.
