Silver Jewellery Can Make Or Break Your Outfit

Feb 4, 2010

Now that we are well and truly into the New Year I feel it is time for a good old clear out of the wardrobe. You know that they say out with the old and in with the new. Some of my clothing has probably come to the end of its time and so any old excuse for me to hit the shops and grab some bargains is great. Of course if I am updating my wardrobe, then I feel I probably need to make sure I get some co-ordinating jewellery. I think that jewellery is really important and it can certainly make or break an outfit. It you put together some outlandish jewellery with lets say a tailored dress suit, you are really going wrong in the fashion department.

Of course we all have differing tastes and when we choose our jewellery it’s a very personal approach.

From a personal point of perspective, I really love classic jewellery and don’t like anything that is too flashy. I have a couple of designer silver rings and silver necklaces which I wear all the time. I have found that it just doesn’t pay to buy rubbish and with jewellery you really do get what you pay for.

My older sister always seems to buy the cheapest jewellery she can and in all truthfulness it really does show. There have been plenty of occasions when she has had one of her cheap necklaces on for a little too long, only to be left with a lovely green neck – I think you will agree not the best look in the world.

It’s funny how fashion trends come and go. Take my Nan for instance, she has got some beautiful old silver brooches that she has had for years and just recently my daughter actually asked if she could borrow one of them. I was really surprised by this, as I had always thought that brooches are a bit of an old ladies accessory, but no, according to my daughter they are in fashion at the moment, so I was well and truly reprimanded and put in my place. Don’t you hate it when your children know more about what’s in fashion than you? What upset me even more was the fact that my daughter didn’t want to borrow my jewellery but her Great Nans!
