How About A Farming Holiday In France?

Sep 6, 2010

Not everyone is going to like this but there are a lot of people who like to go and work on a French farm while they are on holiday in the country. The word ‘holiday’ for most us, means a place in the sun where we can lie on a beach all day long. After all, we work hard all year round so why would we possibly want to work on our holidays? But working on a farm in France for your holidays seems to be a popular choice for many people these days from the UK and other countries.

Apparently this trend for agricultural holidays in France was kicked off by the popular book, ‘A Year in Provence’ by Peter Mayle. There are many people who found the book about getting away from daily life to work on a French farm inspirational, and they have decided that they would really like to give it a go themselves. Most people are settling for a few weeks every so often as most of us cannot actually take a whole year off like Peter Mayle did. And the farmers in France are absolutely loving this as they are getting workers on their farms for free; the French tourist board are kind of happy with the idea too.

And for people in the UK it really couldn’t be easier to get to France especially with the handy tunnel which now connects the two countries. It seems likely that these types of holidays will become even more popular as people find that they can be refreshing. So nowadays you do not have to be lying on a beach for your entire holiday to ensure that you are fully relaxed when you return home. Working can bring its own form of stress relief; remember the motto a change is as good as a rest.

Today it has become a trend for more people to drive in their car over to their foreign holiday destination. Many people head to the South Coast to grab theferry to france. Doing this means you don’t have to worry about things like the channel tunnel prices. At the end of the day there isn’t a better way of getting in some Calais shopping?
