We all like a nice break, a week or two spent tanning around the pool and drinking beer, tanning in the beautiful Mediterranean sun is the perfect cure for all the stresses and strains of everyday life. A holiday does not come without its potential pitfalls and palavas however, looking round for good value deals is time consuming, packing the day before and rounding the kids of to get themselves organized requires a degree in logistics and getting to the airport is a whole other story. In fact the journey to the airport can be more stressful and in some cases more expensive than the flight itself! If you live a long distance from a major airport the taxi fare can be astronomical, unless of course you can get a relative to give you a lift. In recent years however parking firms have come up with a solution, airport parking.
This certainly doesn’t sound like a revolutionary idea and car parks surrounding airports have indeed been around since the dawn of the airport itself. Independent companies have made it much easier and more cost effective to leave your vehicle safe and secure for long periods of time. Simply pull up at the reception area, leave your keys with staff and make your way to the airport or Gatwick hotels, or where it is you are staying. Parking staff will move your car to a vast satellite park located some distance away from the reception where your car will remain, locked away and surrounded by high fences, patrolled by security and recoded on CCTV.
It is certainly a safe place to leave your car but what is the cost incurred? The going rate in many car parks around the UK is approximately ten pounds per day, for a week long holiday this works out as £49, or £98 for two week stay, although most firms will offer discounts for longer parking periods. This is excellent value when you consider the cost of other transport methods. It is also a lot less stressful considering you can haul all your luggage in the back of the people carrier and set off for Heathrow Hotels or wherever it is you are staying before jetting off.
Any peice that champions certain twons or cities will come up against some opposition, and for this reason I’m clarifying my disclaimer right now that this is all based on my opinion, one man’s rubbish tip will be another man’s palace so please respect my views and comment accordingly. Beinng loacted within the stone’s throw of an Airport has many positive points, not least being able to reach the terminal building quickly, easily and cheaply for travel or work purposes. It is highly likely that your town will be a more vibrant affluent and lively place if you live near an airport, here are a few places I have lived that are in close proximity to a major airport.
Crawley
A new town Located in the shadows of Gatwick airport, Crawley is a large town which is constnatly expanding. Many residents work at the airport in airport parking or Gatwick airport hotels. Crawley is a town on the up and with great transport links to London and the coast.
Harlow
Harlow is just a stone’s throw from Stanstead airport and like Crawley, is a new town built after WW2 to house the UKs growing population and ease congestion in London. Located in Essex on the M11 North-East of London. Despite being so close to the Urban Sprawl, Harlow is well know for its abundance of green spaces.
Altrincham
Located on the outskirts of greater Manchester, Altrincham houses a modest population and is located very close to Manchester Airport Hotels, a major source of employment for the locals. A 5 minute train ride from the middle of Manchester and Old Trafford, one of the most famous sports stadiums in the world, Altrincham is the perfect small town to escape the hustle and bustle of city life.
There you have it, three small towns that would make a great home if you are looking to relocate near to an airport. Choose wisely!

During the Second World War, airports or to be more precise, runways were at a premium. Britain needed every last bit of long tarmac it could get, not only to launch offensives in Europe but to help train the many new recruits flooding in to help the war effort. continue reading »

Fake reviews of products and services are unfortunately nothing new, and some companies are actually profiting from the sale of bogus testimonials.
If you’ve ever searched the Internet for product reviews before making a purchase, you’ve surely seen them: glowing reviews, telling you how fantastic this audio system is or what a wonderful time was had staying at that hotel. Did it ever strike you as strange that sometimes there seem to be tens, maybe even hundreds, of reviews that don’t have one bad word to say?It just so happens that those reviews you’re reading might actually be fake. continue reading »
