Jewellery And Cartoons

Sep 11, 2010

We have all seen it right, the likes of Wilma Flintstone and others wearing things like silver jewellery in the cartoons. well what seem to be the main reasons behind the creators doing something like this, is it because they are trying to get deals with jewellery makers or do they think adding a bit of jewellery to the character is really going to help?? here are some of those important questions answered.

Deals?

toon makers do not often strike deals with companies on things like this because the viewers would not like it and immediately give up watching the cartoon, this would not be good for the company that make the cartoon or the company trying to promote their product through it. Another reason they do not deal with these kinds of companies is because they do not need too, the biggest of cartoon studios are much more powerful and richer than companies that sell jewellery so why do they need to team up with them. With this in mind, what is the point in putting a piece of amber jewellery or Celtic jewellery on one of their cartoon characters?

It Works

one of the key reasons that artists will put jewellery on a cartoon character is because they think it completes them, you can see where they are coming from in most instances. I am pretty sure that both Wilma and Betty would not be the same without their pearl jewellery on all of the time? nowadays we would think something is missing if we saw these people without them and this is what toon makers see when they are drawing them for the first time.

another reason that these types of things are put on them is to make them relate to people and this works a lot. The best example is of course the Flintstones as you really can believe they are a proper family!
