Arranging a large event can be stressful theres so much to think about. Spend a bit of time and effort arranging your catering, however, and at least you will know that your guests will be well fed and watered. Read on for some tips on arranging large-scale catering. Firstly, you need to know well in advance when and where your event will be as your caterers will need time to prepare for a large number of guests, drawing up menus and preparing the food.

You should find out as soon as you can how many people will be attending the event and whether any of them have any allergies, religious food needs or other special requirements. You should tell your caterers as soon as you find out so they can adapt their menus if necessary and provide food options for everyone. All of the food on the day of the event should be clearly labeled with relevant information so people know what it is and whats in it.

You also need to be very aware of your costs your overall budget and how much of that is for catering as its easy to go over budget when taking care of a large amount of people. Get a good idea of how many will be attending as caterers often charge you per person. They also offer a range of menus for different prices based on the cost per person, so make sure you know your options and they know your budget so your menu stays on cost.

Because a lot of the food will have to be prepared ahead of time, you might want to consider the issue of storage. Find out what storage facilities are available at your venue and alert your caterers if they will need to provide storage as some of them dont offer this service. Also consider transportation how far is it from the caterers to your venue? You could use a caterer local to the event venue or using one recommended by the venue if you cant get a caterer with transport.

Another key catering decision is to decide how you want the food to be served you can choose either a formal meal or buffet service. For large numbers of people, a buffet with servers behind the table can often be a good idea as it will help to keep the queue moving and get people through quickly so theyre not waiting ages for food. If you tell people the food options beforehand, this should also help to keep down both waiting times and your blood pressure.

Making choices for children’s parties is difficult for both parent and child because there are a lot of options available. Besides the party being age-appropriate, it’s also important to have a fun theme and your child’s tastes to be catered. You can try to encourage your child to add a little more in their next event rather than have another Barbie or Batman theme.

Kids usually take home and show off the things they love to make. Having a crafty party would be a great idea because the kids can make something that’s related to their chosen theme. The kids can make jewelry, create bat mobiles which they can hang in their rooms, or even decorate jewelry boxes or T-shirts. But you need to consider the personalities when planning a craft party because it’s usually little girls who like to make things because boys don’t usually have the patience.

There are many party venues and entertainers available for hire, varying from farms where kids can pet farm animals and have pony rides, to go-karting and boot camps. These options are popular with both children and adults as there’s far less cleaning up to do at home afterwards.

Older girls enjoy a pamper party too, and if you have willing aunts or friends, you can do it all yourself without having to bring in a beautician. You can give pedicures, facials, massages, and even make gowns which would then become the party favor.

Older boys enjoy a sports party, where you can set up various sports related challenges for them to complete for prizes. Shooting plastic arrows, catching baseballs, and shooting soccer balls at a goal are just some of the games you can do and you can also have a special prize for the winners of the competition.

Having a successful party is possible as long as you reflect on the gender of your child’s guests, their interests, as well as their age group. You can have happy guests and a super party on a budget as long as you plan carefully.

It has and always will be great fun to hold a theme party. Unfortunately, people have been trying to make them bland and dull. White parties are some of the worst theme parties imaginable. Forcing guests to dress up in the most bland and uninteresting clothing color almost seems rude. In addition to this, white makes for a terrible party color. Spilled food and drink show up very prominently on all white pants and shirts.

The basics should always be used when planning out a proper theme party. Choosing a theme that is unique, interesting, and easily recognizable is not hard to do. The Roman themed party is very easy to do and yet very exciting at the same time. It gives everyone an excuse to go out and rent a neat looking Roman armor costume. In this article I’ll talk about what you need to do to create your own Roman themed party. I’ll even tell you where you can go to purchase some nice costumes to wear.

Firstly, you’ll need to create invitations. Start the party off right by creating Roman themed invitations. Make them on medieval looking paper and use a medieval font, or hand write them in large cursive letters. You could write them in Latin, but your friends probably wouldn’t appreciate having to get an interpreter.

Roman food should be the next thing on your list. Roman food tastes great and is simple to prepare. You’ll just need lots of breads, cheeses, and wines to start things off right. After this just cook a hearty main course and your food obligations are complete.

After you’ve done this, you can start searching for the perfect costume to wear. You can choose from a variety of styles including: gladiator costumes, soldier costumes, aristocracy clothing, and even peasant clothing. Great costumes can be purchased at www.historicalclothingrealm.com.

Finally, you will need to get your room decorated in a Roman like fashion. Try to move everything modern out of the main rooms or at least cover it up. Then you can put some ancient items around the room like suits of armor, weapons, medieval instruments, and paintings. You don’t have to rob a bank to supply these items, but don’t go too cheap either. Get some of your friends to play the music and you’ll be all set.

Thank you for reading this article on throwing a Roman themed party. Feel free to link to this page from your forum or blog.

When you are planning a party, your first step once you’ve decided on a guest list will be the invitations. To make your party invitations unique, try something new and different rather than buy or print them from your computer.
Providing you with a wonderful opportunity to get creative with invitations are children’s parties. It all depends on your theme, like cutting the invitations in the shape of bats if your party theme is Batman. Other ideas would include enclosing an invitation inside cupcakes with the words “you’re invited” on them, which is a great idea for a little girl’s party and the kids would enjoy it because it has a secret message and a yummy treat.

For unusual invitations, formal occasions like christenings and wedding can provide you with that opportunity. As long as your guest list isn’t too long, making your invitations using handcrafted papers, beads and ribbons can produce beautiful invitations that your guests will treasure. Consider your theme and the colors you are using, and use layers of handcrafted papers to create a masterpiece.

You can also let loose with kitchen teas and baby showers. Your local Chinese restaurant can be approached to make a batch of fortune cookies with your invitation inside, with ‘fortunes’ related to marriage and relationships on the other side. For baby shower invitations, you can use hand knitted baby booties to make a cute envelope.

You can do whatever you please with the invitations of themed parties like dress-up parties or Halloween. Halloween invitations can be attached to small plastic bats’ backs, or covered in fake cobwebs. It all depends on the theme of your dress-up, but still your imagination will be the only limit.

When it comes to anniversary parties, you can consider letting family and friends relive their childhood with a fifth birthday party for that anniversary. Being innovative is also possible for birthday parties. As long as your guest list can accommodate it, a great idea would be with sending a candle with each invitation. You can ask your 60 guests to bring the candle to be added on the cake, just don’t forget that you have spares if some people don’t show up.

Your party invitations set the tone for the occasion, and can be as unusual, fun or even daring as you want them to be. Try going to stores that have a variety of decorations and party favors and be inspired and don’t forget to consider your themes and colors. If your budget allows you to go overboard, then do so. Don’t limit yourself to white paper and envelopes because nowadays it’s all about the variety of ways to deliver your message and being bold.

Don’t settle for boring personalized stationery! Show them your unique sense of taste and style by sending custom invitation with accompanying stationery address labels.

Dressing up in a medieval costume can be very fun. The amount of powerful heroes in medieval history make the options for your costume seem almost endless. You will never have to go into battle with an enemy, but you will get to safely play out your medieval hero fantasy in your costume.

At times it can be very difficult to successfully dress up in a medieval costume. Finding a costume is easy, but finding one that looks as realistic as the original is not always as easy. Also finding realistic looking costumes can be a very difficult task. I wrote this article to give you some strategies you can use to find a great looking medieval style costume. You’ll even learn where to go to buy a nice medieval costume online.

The first thing you’ll need to do is identify what kind of medieval costume you want to wear. Wearing an ancient Greek armor is much different than wearing a set of Gothic battle armor. If you plan on walking around a lot in your costume, I would suggest you choose a medieval costume that does not have a lot of weight to it. For instance, you could choose to be an ancient gladiator that only wears a nice helmet and a breastplate. Helmets, work at concealing your face and weapons and breastplates complete the look quite easily.

If you only have a few lightweight items completing your entire costume, you won’t need to concern yourself with the weight of them. Weapons that are carried to the party can be put down on tables and chairs close by to where you are relaxing.

Those that will be lounging in the same place throughout the night can wear something with a little more weight to it if they like. Long robed costumes and full war armor sets could be good choices. For instance, you might want to wear a long brown robe to simulate the ancient monks. You’ll find that tripping on the robe is not an issue when you are simply sitting in one place all night.

Medieval costumes can be found at http://www.historicalclothingrealm.com. Many different medieval battle items can be bought there. You can also look at items from some of the historically significant wars. Just make sure you don’t go knocking on world war 2 veterans doors dressed up in full world war 2 outfits. Ensuring the people around you have fun is just as important as making sure you have fun as well.

If youre planning on attending a Halloween party this year, you can expect to see a slew of blacks, whites, reds and oranges. Even kids are used to wearing costumes made up of these colors. But this Halloween, you can diverge from the norm and let your child wear something more colorful.

Halloween costume designs vary from being too common to being too non-Halloween. But the design for common Halloween costumes can be changed so that it is more colorful. This can be done by accessorizing. There are ways to make your costumes better without losing the Halloween flair. Here are some tips… The ghost costume is the most common one. The costume does not require much effort to create. Plain white is fairly common so you need to use imagination for something that really stands out. A pretty hat will make your ghost costume a trendier one.

It doesn’t take much to pair up a scary mask with a bright Hawaiian shirt. Your child would look great as the werewolf who just recently took a vacation to a tropical paradise. The Orcs are a brave and scary bunch, but this does not mean they cannot wear pink.

The witch costume has been black for ages, which make it seem like witches have no fashion style at all. Some witch costumes can be bronze or red. Another option is to apply color on witch accessories like the broom or the hat.

A zombie can ditch the dirt spattered clothes and go for more colorful one. You can also add ribbons to the handle of a scythe to make the grim ripper more trendy. Admittedly, its hard to add a splash of color to the Victorian Gothic elegance of Count Dracula. As long as you add the mandatory blood stain near the mouth, and the fangs, you can dress him up in anything colorful that you have in your closet right now.

Halloween is coming! Get ready with some halloween costumes and and get some black costumes too!

If you plan on hosting a large party with more than 100 guests (wedding reception, retirement party, school reunion or anniversary) you’ll need to have it at a larger venue where event planning professionals can help you with planning, food and catering professionals can help you with food and beverages, and banquet setup can help with the decoration and setup of the party location.

You can have other possibilities besides hotels, restaurants, and resorts. Such possibilities include non-profit company buildings, art galleries, and museums. If you choose a non-traditional venue, be prepared to work more to make sure everything is in order for the big event. Venues that don’t usually host such events are less like to have all the necessities as a restaurant or hotel.

The important thing when choosing a venue is making sure it can accommodate the number of guests and the event’s magnitude. You may fall in love with a venue, but it may be too small for your event. You also need to consider the hours of your party because even if the venue is perfect, if the hours wouldn’t work, then you can’t use it either. It is always good to consult an event planning professional to try to locate the appropriate venue for your event.

There are venues who would tell you they’re capable of running an event like yours smoothly because they also host similar events. You won’t have to worry about the hands on stuff because those have professionals taking care of the details for you. For the setup of the tables and dance floor, the experienced venues will utilize banquet setup personnel. Options for catering, entertainment, and logistics can be offered by the venue management.

Speak up if you feel that the venue management lack creativity. You are the customer, and you should be able to influence the planning of your event. You need to get everything in writing. Don’t rely on assumptions. Read the contract carefully and make sure it includes what is and is not included in the venue.

Making certain your guests have enough parking is also important. If you have guests with special needs like handicap access, make certain it’s available in the venue.

Don’t settle for boring custom stationery! Show them your unique sense of taste and style by sending custom invitation with accompanying stationery labels.

Catering a party for teens is difficult because it’s challenging to please a teenager. To have a successful teen party no matter what theme you choose, there are a few tips and tricks you need to know.

Being present and supervising without being seen doing it is the first trick you need to know. Most teenagers don’t want their parents hovering – but the other children attending the party are under your care and supervision, and you will have to subtly keep an eye on the activities.

Making sure that alcohol or illegal substances are not smuggled into the party is an step thing you need to do. You can wander through occasionally to make sure everything’s in order or try a glass of punch to make sure it’s not spiked. If you find alcohol, then you need to do the right thing and get rid of it and tell the teens who brought it to leave the party. You can also ask other parents to help you keep an eye on the party, especially dads because they’re better at asking young boys to leave. If you can take turns wandering around checking up on them, they won’t take as much notice as they will if the same parent is hovering every twenty minutes.

It’s also important to keep an eye on dark corners and closed doors. Your teen may be mortified by your behavior, but it is better to know what’s going on in the bedroom than have an unpleasant incident.

Taking the kids to a movie and dinner with you seated elsewhere is probably the easiest way to have a successful teen party. If you do it this way, they won’t get to any mischief because they’re all in a public place. Depending on your teenager’s preferences, there are many activities that you can arrange for their party that will lessen the hazards of a party at home.

A group of girls might enjoy a day of pampering at a salon or spa, and boys might appreciate attending a big sports events in your area. Before you send out the invitations, first find out what your kid wants to do, discuss the pros and cons and state some rules. Tell your teen not to break the rules or the party will be shut down and make them understand that these rules are for their protection.

Block Parties

Sep 24, 2010

We live in a busy world, rushing to and from work, shuffling the children to after school sports, and ballet lessons. Although we may live in well-populated neighborhoods, it is possible to live on the same street for years on end and scarcely meet your neighbors. The way to break the ice and bring everyone together is by hosting a neighborhood block party.

At block parties, neighbors set up tables on the street and usually have refreshments and music. Some neighbors may cook on their grills. The party may have special events if it was planned well. There may be clowns, pony rides, or magicians for the children.

Block Parties Can Be a Messy Business

The downside of block parties is that they tend to leave a mess behind. Discarded materials can leave the streets in disaster. So remember, when you organize the party, organize a clean-up crew for the end. There will still be messes all over the street, even if homeowners are responsible for their lawn.

Some Restrictions Apply

Before one of these events, you will need permission from your local authorities. You may need a permit. The cost can be shared by the neighbors. It also is recommended to organize with local police departments. They may help you barricade the street.

If you live in a subdivision and have a homeowners’ association, check with them first. Their rules may be too strict. This might be a good idea to raise at the next board meeting.

Either way, it’s a good idea to get an opinion from the neighbors. You may want to reconsider if more than half are unwilling to participate. In the event that they don’t agree, just downsize to someone’s back yard. If several adjoining homes are in the party mood, you can make it a multi-family party and invite any neighbor who wants to attend.

Lighten up and share a cold one with the neighbor that you’ve never met. You may have some more in common than you realized. It’s always nice to make a new buddy.

Plan a trip, go somewhere the bride would like, maybe to another city to go shopping or see the sights. Do whatever you want, just make sure you go! Or if you could get away with it, surprise her with an overnight bag and just tug her along. Don’t give her a clue on where you’re going.

A Whole House of Fun

Let the fun begin party down the house! You can rent some movies, pop some popcorn along with the champagne, and in between you can play games like truth or dare or Pictionary. (Afrobraids anyone?)

Ride The Wheel

Bringing the bride to a theme park ought to be enough to get the bride to forget her pre-wedding jitters. Make funny faces in the house of mirrors, eat candy apples, taffy and corn dog, and in between take pictures of everyone having fun.
